The South Sudan National Ministry of General Education and Instruction has on Wednesday officially handed over newly constructed schools to the Jonglei State government.
The schools, built by education partners aims to provide a better and more conducive learning environment for students.
Among the newly constructed facilities are; Bor A and B, Malou, Langbaar B Primary School and Baidit Secondary School and several others.
During the handover ceremony, National Education Minister Dr Kuyok Abol Kuyo, urged teachers to be committed in delivering quality education to learners.
He stressed that education is a crucial investment for nation-building and reaffirmed that it will be free for every child in Jonglei, regardless of gender.
‘’Education is an investment that we all as a society put in a child so that tomorrow he or she will become somebody in the country and if we don’t do that we will loss as a society so we have to invest,’’ Dr Kuyok said.
He pointed that his ministry together with the partners will establish teachers training college to provide services to the teachers in the state.
Jonglei State Governor Dr. Riek Gai Kok expressed his gratitude to the education partners for constructing modern classrooms for the state’s students.
‘’This school is just like any other modern school in Kenya or Uganda or and any other part of the world. We will maintain and make good use of it. This will be learning point for people in Jonglei to participating in building the nation as one people it will contribute to peace,’’ He said.
He assured that the government will ensure adequate space in schools for co-curricular activities, such as sports, to foster the all-around development of learners.
Chuti John Madit, called on the national and state education ministries to establish learning spaces for persons living with disability.
‘’We want schools for those living with disabilities like the visually impaired, the hearing impairmentand those with mobility impairment. When someone with hearing impairment is educated, he or she is no longer deaf,’’ Chuti stated.
Governor this week, announced that the state leadership will work towards increasing access to education across the state.
