In Brotherly efforts to deescalate political tension in South Sudan, Kenya’s Special Envoy, Raila Odinga, has arrived and is expected to meet President Salva Kiir and First Vice President Dr. Riek Machar.

After the reports of the house arrest of Dr. Machar that followed military confrontations between peace parties,President Willam Ruto assigned Odinga in a move to bring President Kiir and Dr. Machar together once again.

As the Chairperson of the East Africa Community (EAC), President William Ruto has task in ensuring that the 2018 South Sudan peace agreement which is not in crisis should be save from collapsing.

This visit comes in response to recent tensions that started in Nasir, which included confrontations between forces around the capital, Juba, and the arrests and detention of SPLM-IO leaders, including Dr. Machar.

With required experience in conflict resolution, he is expected to meet with church leaders, civil society representatives as well as peace monitors.

As expert in conflict resolution as well as neutralization of military tension Odinga is expected to meet with church leaders, civil society representatives as well as peace monitorsto get necessary information that can opewn door for the dialogue.

The need to for intervention of the African leaders came after the First Vice president recently called for intervention to prevent the peace agreement from collapsed.
