The National Examination Council (NEC) released the long-awaited Certificate of Primary Education (CPE) Examination results for the academic year 2024, with a passing rate of 94.9 per cent.
While announcing the results, Minister of General Education and Instruction, Dr. Kuyok Abol Kuyok reported that only 73,326 out of 77,264 students passed the tests, while 3,878 failed the primary eight exams.
“In terms of performance, out of the 77,264 candidates, (there were 42,257 males, 35,007 females) that attempted the exams, 73,326 candidates (40,427 males, 32,899 females) passed the exams, which represent an overall pass rate of 94.9%, a weight score of 73.1% performance index,” he said.
He added that the students that scored (A) that is 450 to 500 marks were 13 candidates and they represent top performers in P8.
“(B) 400 to 449 marks were 24,319 candidates, (C) 300 to 399 marks at the bulk of the candidates, that is 442,368 candidates, (D) 250 to 299 marks were 6,626 candidates [and] those who failed, the marks from 00 to 249 marks were 3,878 candidates,” Kuyok explained.
Islam Religious Education and mathematics ranked worst with 51.1% and 61.8% performance indexes. Meanwhile, Science and English are the best performed subject with 79.9% and 79.4% respectively.
“To address these challenges, the ministry will embark on recruitment and training of teachers for mathematics and Islamic Religious Education, IRE, so that they are able to deliver the curriculum effectively,” minister said.
Mr Kuyok also pronounced the thirteen best student performers across the country in the Friday’s released CPE examination results.
Felix Luwala Wani Jube and Moses Jerry Acire Ocaya, students at Hai Negil Primary School and JCC Model Primary School in Central Equatoria state, scored (453) each to lead the primary eight list.
The duos are followed by Ador Moses Akoch Mayuat (452), and Anthony Gubek Emmanuel Ladu (451), all from River Baptist Nusery & Primary and JCC Model Primary Schools.
In fifth position is Gifty Chandia Remis Aluwe and her colleague Sabrine Keji Paulino Francis in sixth position, these are only female candidates who managed to wrestle with the male with (451) score.
Ranked in seventh position is Felix Remijo Natale Ucin, followed by John Deng Dau Deng, Kueth Biel Chiok Wiew, Michael Manyang Bol Maut, and in eleventh position Noel Mokoto Thomas Justin including Peter Mabil Lueth Jool and Wol Majok Adhieu Akoch scored (450)
The best primary schools are mainly from Central Equatoria state, on topmost is JCC Model Primary School with 89.1%, followed by Venus Star Academy -Goroyo campus with 87.8, and third position JCC Hai Negil Primary School 87.6.
Furthermore, Juba Junior is School is placed number four with 87.5%, followed by St. Peter Primary School – Rajaf with 87.4% and then Emma Memorial Academy in Western Equatoria state comes number six with 87.3 percentage pass.
Then, Lofus Primary School in Eastern Equatoria state (EES) with 87.3%, ranked in eight position is Venus Satr Academy -main campus with 87.2%, then Ikwoto ALP center and in tenth position is River Baptist Nusery and Primary School with 86.9%.
Finally, Sunlight Primary in Jonglei at eleventh position with 86.9% and at the bottom Alliance Academy Nursery & Primary School with 86.9 percentage pass
“I hereby now officially release the 2024 CPE results,” he announced.
He asked the public to collect official results from the schools where the candidates sat, or to use the result check application via the digital line by dialing *113# and receiving results promptly.
